Hangs at "Checking Versions" US West

Wed, 21 April, 3:30PM Chicago time:
Problem still exists.
If (good) lucky, can get in after 1-4 tries.
If (bad) lucky, I try for 20 minutes and then give up.
Was able to get a couple chars to A4/A5 Hell (as bumpers for rushes).
Last night, had to give up after many attempts to log in failed.
Random luck, IMO.
Maybe time to totally shut down and then restart BNet from scratch? They have the capability to do the restart, but will they do it?

I can’t login to USWEST battle.net. I get the message checking version every time I try. Please fix servers ASAP.

I miss the friends I made, miss playing with my amazon lvl 86 HC, I got a Windforce DAMN IT LOL, come on fix this, guys.

Played a bit Thursday, 22 April.

Then tried to change accounts–and could not get back to USWest. All other realms were not a problem to join.

Gave up after 10 minutes of trying.

New ladder in early June, so do not expect changes to fix this issue until then.

Was able to play a bit on Friday.

Saturday, about 12:20p to 12:35pm Chicago time:
Unable to get onto BNet to pay. Hang at “Connecting…” or “Checking Versions”.
Able to log in to the other three realms with minimal problems.

Sunday, approx midday Chicago time: Took 3-5 attempts (including hitting the other three realms–all good) and was eventually able to get in to USWest. Played some over six hours and logged out about 6pm.

Are we going to get a blue post this next week?.. No updates in 10 days?.. No fixes in 10 days?.. 10 days tells me no one is actually working on this issue. That’s a LOT of development time.

Same problem for me. I’ve played this game off and on since it was released. Never had any problems like this. It seems like my IP was banned as well. Connecting to Battle.net has been pretty slow (especially since the official announcement of the Remastered version of the game), and occasionally it crashes while connecting (because of Windows 10 incompatibilities I’m sure) but it’s been getting increasingly worse.

Last week I was able to cancel a stuck connection and try again and get in immediately. Sometimes I’d have to try a few times. A few days ago I had to try several times to get in and I finally got in but I was only on for a few moments to make sure my characters didn’t become inactive. Today I haven’t been able to get on at all. That is, until I look this up and see that people can be banned for connecting too many times or using a VPN.

I haven’t been using a VPN so that’s out of the question, but I have had to reconnect, like I said, because of either game crashes, or US West not responding. I was able to connect to US East and the others a few days ago a little easier, but now all the servers are not working.

So I disabled my ethernet adapter on my PC on a whim, and connected to my home WiFi network. Still no luck. I then connected to a neighborhood hotspot, and was able to connect fine. I disconnected and reconnected fine again. Enabled my ethernet adapter and couldn’t connect. So my IP seems to be banned, but it’s due to the game servers being buggy and disconnecting me? How long am I supposed to wait for this to be fixed? How do I check the status of my IP address then? I mean at least I have a neighborhood XFinity hotspot to connect to, but many people won’t have that option…

Yes, logging in two or three times would eventually work. WOULD. Now I haven’t been able to connect in two days until I connected to a neighborhood XFinity hotspot instead of my own home connection. I connected fine with that. I think my home IP was flagged for trying to connect multiple times, and got my home IP banned from Battle.net. Wonderful (sarcasm).

The problem… is that people are initially unable to connect to USWEST, and then after attempting to connect multiple times, their IPs are seemingly being banned, which is causing them to not be able to connect to ANY of the realms. So Delirio’s problems fits here with the rest of ours.

Not exactly, my issue was i was in game, got disconnected and haven’t been able to connect to any realm every since… i couldnt get into USWEST at all, could not get in by trying to reconnect a few times and get lucky, just nothing… the problem seems regional? here in Sydney i know 3 other people in different suburbs on different ISPS that cant connect to any realm either, but someone i know overseas can connect just fine with no issue… but he has said the servers are quiet

She just spams bro, between her and Leviathan they have passed on so much faulty information that battle.net hasn’t even started on this issue. They keep saying information has been passed, but not to anyone able to do anything. Blizzard has come out with saying they still see people logging in on west so they can’t see a problem. And since trolls like The “MVP”s and the ones who post, “it’s working again!” Just to post later that it’s not. Although there is NO blizzard support anywhere to be found.

Hey all, I too have this exact same issue in Europe. 3rd day on the issue, Im hopeless, and seems its gonna be a long wait. Just great.

Well i can confirm that as of today (15 days after it started) i can now reconnect to any realm on battlenet here in Sydney and a couple mates who couldnt get on before can now get on, so not sure about Europe… but i hope its not a 15 day thing like what we just went through here

haha yeah the old mysterious realm downs… that old trick they do :rofl: but yeah… seems to be fine now, i could connect from about 6pm EST from here in Sydney. Hopefully not the same for you! GL to you my man :v:

I, too, am having severe problems logging into U.S. West. U.S. East works fine, but West hangs at the “Checking Versions” for several minutes, then gives error. This has been going on for the last couple of weeks, but I can usually intermittently get logged in. Not today. Multiple attempts are all failing.

I STILL CAN NOT connect to US west.

just us west having connection problems. other servers able to log in. please get it fix. its been so long already

Problem still exists on 30 April. This is now 3+ weeks with no resolution.

I have been able to eventually get on USWest by successfully logging into the other realms (one at a time) and then trying USWest. Recently, the second attempt works (Europe, USWest, Asia, USWest = success).

The problem with this routine is simple: I can’t shift items between accounts. Due to the login problems, the game disappears by the time I am able to get the second account into USWest.

Key point: As this is how they treat their customers, why would anyone buy from them–ever? Ignore the “this is old servers” nonsense. We are looking at how they treat customers. Poor customer service indicates people should not buy from them. How they treat customers now is how they will treat customers in the future. It does not matter what they claim. They knew, at the time they bought the franchise, what they were getting into. If Blizzard/Activision claims they did NOT know, then that is yet an additional rationale to not buy from them. Reward their failure(s) by taking future business elsewhere. After all, they earned it.

Yeah its crazy… for some people its been even longer then that!..

I’ve personally had plenty of contact with Blizzard over the time of my issue until they fixed it through support tickets, they were actually quite good so i can’t complain about their customer service in that respect, but they aren’t making any public announcements on forums so i agree its going to turn off alot of people…

Im sorry to hear you are still having issues on USWest… it appears some people are having the same issue on USEast now as well… Blizzard as far as i know are struggling to work it out because on their end everything looks fine

I think that ever since the announcement of D2R, alot of players have been coming back to the game and thats created load issues on the servers, which is why people on certain ISP’s and in certain regions can sometimes connect and sometimes can’t, have trouble creating games and etc… only a theory…

yeah for the past two weeks the uswest server has been brutal usually takes me about 10-30 minutes of constantly trying to connect to finally hit my login screen.
really hope this gets sorted and isn’t foreshadowing of the D2R launch.
