Whenever I launch via short cut for any wow version i get ““the folder does not contain the right version of the game”” Oddly enough every version of wow I have is updated and runs fine. I’m not sure why this error is occuring on launch of client when the games are fine. And I’m not sure how to fix it since the games are all fine.

I have done all that. The games are there it just keeps popping this up when I open battle.net even though every game has PLAY button that works and goes to the appropriate game.

I just started getting this yesterday and the only game i have installed is overwatch, and it plays fine when i ignore the error that only pops up upon start of the launcher. the game is on another drive if that matters. Everything is fine when I ignore the error, even checked for game corruptions it’s fine.

This have been happening to me too. In my case is that i had to move the game client from C:\ drive to D:\. Then when i moved the game back in C:\ Battle.net no longer recognizes the game and says that it doesnt contain the correct version. A version that worked fine a few hours ago.
Tried running bnet as an admin but it doesnt help. Also weirdly it recognized the game when i moved it in D:\ drive but it doesnt work for C:\
I’ve been having the same issue. I’ve tried clearing cash, and doing the repair and still no dice. Started having an issue with my turning speed using my keyboard and it happened once before with the Shadowlands expansion. Didn’t get any help there but solved it by uninstalling and reinstalling. Figured if it worked for the issue with Shadowlands I’d try it again. After painstakingly doing a fresh install I didn’t get the popup and my turning issue was fixed. Unfortunately upon the second login the popup was back. So far no help from Bliz, no surprise there. Hopefully they fix it soon. I can still play, but the popup is still annoying. Oh and trying to look up a fix for this issue, I found posts about the same thing for years back. The oldest I saw was from 2020.
I have been getting the same message as everyone else, but on both of my computers that I use for gaming. I have found the issue. It is a bad file in the main World of Warcraft folder. Where the games are installed. The file that is broken is WOWLauncher.exe. On one computer I have remade the shortcut to launch the game directly from it’s subfolder. And that works just fine, but you have to login manually at game start. For the techs the popup that everyone is getting states the following; This folder doesn’t contain the correct version of this game. Please check the installation path and try again. Below this there is an okay button. And below that it has More help: BLZBNTAGT00000AF0. If you guys could PLEASE fix this annoying popup. It would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.
If you have found it, then delete the corrupted file, and when the update happens you should no longer receive the issue you’re having.
