Why are there only 4 females to choose from for Wow Avatars?

There are fewer major lore characters that are female, I believe. That said, I think more could be found for avatars.
Related note: Hearthstone avatars have quite a few female WoW race faces.
Agreed, seems most developers assume gamers are young males and are blind to retired females who have time & $$ to play these games. I worked for an Atari game developer in mid '80’s, half our programmers were women!! Also my boyfriend played mostly female characters and avatars. Plus need more gender neutral characters - ie more choices than male/female especially for non-humans.
