Drop password requirement when accessing Account Settings

I recently created a Battle.net account using my trusted identity provider (e.g., Apple, Google, etc.), making my login experience both fast and secure. However, when accessing my Account Settings, I was surprised to be prompted to create a password.

.

This was confusing and seemed wrong, and, after chatting with a Game Master about this (which was an excellent experience by the way), the reason I was given is because:

Battle.net’s infrastructure still relies on passwords as a fallback and verification layer, particularly for account management tasks.

… Like c’mon now., really?

Hence this topic’s creation.

So given that’s the reason, I urge Blizzard Entertainment to reconsider relying on passwords as a fallback and verification layer for its users when accessing the Account Settings on the Battle.net Shop. Instead, opt to re-authenticate with the existing identity provider, existing passkey, or by sending a one-time code to the email associated with the account.

Please don’t use or force me to create a password. Thanks.
