It seems that the only possible way to change your characters name in Classic WoW is to create that name on a different server, then transfer the character you want to name change to that server. And since the name’s already “taken”, it forces you to name change the character.
Will there be an option in the shop come TBC for name changes?
*Note - MVPs are other players, not Blizzard staff.
The paid name change service was introduced by Blizzard in October 2007 - 10 months after TBC release.
If Blizzard decides to follow a similar time line they MIGHT decide to introduce that change. If they feel it would be beneficial to the social climate and community of the game.
At this time though, no announcement has been made about providing the service.
Thank you! I remembered it was definitely around during WotLK times, but couldn’t remember if it was new with it or before in TBC.
