Change region/country

I contacted technical support to change the country for my account, because once upon registration I chose the wrong country in which I actually live, that is, there was no move, I initially chose the wrong country when registering the account.

They asked me to provide a receipt for the utility bill, which would indicate my current residential address. But the problem is that the house I live in is not registered in my name and the utility bills do not show my name.

As proof that this is my account, I offered an alternative, providing a check from the bank whose card I use and once paid for game items from it, but it was not accepted, still requiring a check that would indicate my real address of residence, for example a check for paying for the Internet.

The Internet is registered in my name, but these receipts do not indicate the residential address, but indicate the contract number under which the Internet provider provides its services, which I responded to in tech support and asked if I needed to photograph the entire contract, which indicates the address at which the Internet is connected, to which one of your moderators responded:

"If I understand correctly, you would like to change the region of residence on your Blizzard Battle.net account. I have carefully checked all the information provided in order to put together a complete picture of what happened.

I realise the situation was not the best. However, according to the information in our system, moving to another country cannot be confirmed and there will be no technical possibility to change the country on this account.

There is no need to create new requests on this topic, I hope I was able to clarify this issue!"

And how should this be understood? Why do you have such incompetent people working for you? And why make it so complicated with changing the country for the account!?

I don’t work there, but can offer some thoughts. They make it difficult to change the country registered to the account to prevent account theft and payment fraud.

If you can’t provide the documentation they require that proves your residence, then the GMs will not change the country for you. It needs your name and your address. They are doing their job by telling you if the documents don’t meet the requirements. If they can’t confirm the account holder lives in the country you wish to put on the account, they can’t change it. That is their job to deny that.

Here is the article on it. They do have a self service country change option that you might be able to use depending on how your account is set up - esp if it has an Authenticator on it.

Common Problems

* I want to change my country/region.

  • I moved to a new country/region.
  • I created my Battle.net account using the wrong country/region.

You can change the country/region on your Battle.net account by using our country change self-service. If you are unable to do so, submit a legible image of a recent utility bill or related document with your name and new address for manual review.

Your Battle.net Balance must be below the minimum to qualify for a country/region change. Battle.net Balance may reset to zero after changing country/region. Customer Support can’t convert Battle.net Balance from one currency to another.

Accounts created outside of Korea cannot change their country to Korea later due to the National ID requirement. You will need to create a new Battle.net Account in that region.

Accounts created outside Mainland China cannot be changed to Mainland China. If you are a resident of Mainland China, please create a new Battle.net account in that region or contact local support in that region to recover an existing account. Support cannot transfer game accounts or game data between regions.

If you change your country/region while participating in a restricted alpha or beta test, you will lose your progress in the original region until Global Play is enabled for the game. You may also lose access to the game if we are not testing in your new region.

Note: Region in this context does not mean the region of your Battle.net or World of Warcraft account, but rather the region in which you physically reside.

It does not need to be a utility bill, but if you have other official correspondence from your school, work, bank, etc - they might accept that. Black out any private account numbers.
