I’m trying to migrate my authenticator to the mobile app, and in attempting to remove my phsyical authenticator, I’m being told to use a code from the physical authenticator. Here’s the problem: the physical authtenticator has a dead battery and won’t turn on. How can I get around this?
Hello:
I suggest that you contact Blizzard Support as suggested in the 2nd paragraph of:
Good luck !
Do you have SMS messaging set up on your phone for Blizzard? If so, I THINK you can remove your dead physical Auth using a code they text to your phone as part of the removal process. Otherwise, you have to contact CS and provide proof you are the account holder before they will remove it.
IF you have to do that, be sure you don’t reply to any “do-not-reply” emails they send you. All correspondence has to be done via tickets. If you can’t re-open a ticket, open a new one, reference the first ticket number/s, then provide the info they ask for.
Once all done, you can set up the Mobile Authenticator that is integrated now into the Battlenet App for your phone.
Here is the Support article on setting up Phone notifications.
And the Authenticator article on how to remove and attach them.
Detaching an Authenticator
You can unlink your Authenticator Serial Number from your Battle.net Account through your account management page:
- Log in to your Battle.net Account Security page
- Click Update
- Click Detach Authenticator
- Click Detach
- Complete the Security Check
- This can be an SMS text message received on your phone or a Security code received on your Battle.net Authenticator
- Click Submit
