Call of Duty *NEW patch 4/22/2021* - Won't launch

The game does not start, the symptoms with pressing the play button are described above. None of the software listed in this thread is installed.

Discord Overlay … even though Discord wasn’t open, I had to go in there and disable the Overlay, and then restart … Warzone starts working, after trying everything else including sacrificing a family member …

Also getting this issue, doesn’t look like a fix is available.

After this update I am also having the same problem.

I am having the same issue since the latest update.

1 added modernwarfare to firewall exceptions

2 don’t have citrix or Sophos on my system

3 delete and re-installed [Battle.net](http://Battle.net) and MW Warzone

4 added [Battle.net](http://Battle.net) and modernwarfare to Trend Micro AV exceptions list

5 disabled Trend Micro AV and attempted boot

6 viewed event log and I am getting ntdll.dll error from ModernWarfare.exe

7 disabled windows firewall - still did not load

8 tried scan and repair on Battle.net

None of the above has allowed MW Warzone to load.

Further, I am able to load and play BO Cold War.

Is the same over here, cold war works, the warzone doesn’t!

I uninstalled Citrix Workspace and Secure Remote Worker and after a computer restart the game now launches.

Not sure which caused the issue, but upon uninstalling, there were quite a few firewall settings that were within Secure Remote Worker.

Hi Guys,

After trying all the steps here and I still was not able to run WARZONE on my PC, I finally able to solve the issue. For those that doesn’t have COMODO installed. You can try following this steps:

  1. Run msconfig
  2. General -> Selective Startup -> Uncheck Load Startup Items
  3. Under Services tab -> check Hide All Microsoft services
  4. Sort by Manufacturer
  5. Look for SentryBay and uncheck all items
  6. Apply and restart your PC

Hopefully this work on you.

Alright, guys, this is my first post ever on forums, but I have been struggling with this issue of not being able to log in to Warzone , I did everything mentioned above with install/reinstall but nothing worked. I did try to create a safe line for Warzone with my antivirus that did not help. I did not have any software like COMODO or Citrix . I am from Russia and I looked at all the info in English and in Russian to help solve the problem. In the end, I stumbled upon a video on YouTube, where the guy outlined the software CryptoPro. After I deleted it the loading started perfectly. This leads me to believe that if you have tried everything that was mentioned above. Try to look for specific software that could cause interference depending on your location and computer use functions. For me in Russia it was CryptoPro software, for some it could be Citrix Workspace ( I think the interference for Warzone launcher could be with specific inscription software but I could be wrong ) Well I did my part in trying to provide the solution to the problem boys . My advise would be to look at the specific software depending on the country you from , try to focus on finding the blocker to the launcher . Best Regrads guys I really hope this post will help .

Thanks to TrueStory for sending in the right direction.
I can confirm that those who use Crypto Pro on their PC may or will encounter this issue, but you there is not necessary to remove this application from the PC, since this app uses to work with the electronic signature.
All you need to do is add the ModernWarfare.exe (and just in case Modern Warfare Launcher.exe) files to exclusion list of the CryptoPro.

  1. Open registry: WIN+R → enter regedit → ENTER
  2. Navigate to: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Session Manager\CProExclude
  3. Create section with name: Cod_MW (actually you can enter whatever you want)
3.1 Create new string parameter with name FileName and set the value ModernWarfare.exe
  4. Create section with name: Cod_MW_L (actually you can enter whatever you want)
4.1 Create new string parameter with name FileName and set the value Modern Warfare Launcher.exe
  5. Reboot your pc.

So, you should have next structure (the presented code can be used to import to your registry)

Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Session Manager\CProExclude\CodMW]
"FileName"="ModernWarfare.exe"

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Session Manager\CProExclude\CodMW_L]
"FileName"="Modern Warfare Launcher.exe"

Thank you, it works now.

Thank you duuuuuude!!! All russian individual enterpreneurs kissing your feets

My friend who is better on the PC had a look and he killed all non essential processes in task mananger. Then warzone would start again. In the end it was a programm: emisoft anti malware that caused the issue. Uninstalled that and now it works again.

So basically the way of elimination works best, kill all programs and then start again what you need. Check when it does or does not work everytime new processes start up again.

Alright bois, I got it working again. Did it by uninstalling two things:

  1. All Adobe software, including Adobe Genuine Service.
  2. 0patch

I figured one of these was hooking processes. Hopefully this helps some of you.

f14sm4n is the man , he came up with a technical solution  all I did was being lucky to stumble up on Russian YouTube video  really glad could chip in to help guys . See you all in Warzone , hope everyone will find a solution to thier problem. Much love from Mother Russia ;)) Peace homies

Thank you so much! It works, my problem was in Crypto Pro, after adding the game to the exceptions everything worked! And yes, all russian individual entrepreneurs kissing your feets )))

I am very happy for all of you, but this should not be required. A game that has 100 million unique players should not expect some players to play around with anti virus or other software installed on their windows.

All the proposed solutions are not applicable to me. My anti virus is managed by the company (crowdstrike falcon). Can’t do anything but wait on activision. But their forum/support it non existing.

Check logs in windows event manager. Check the wer file and find the last included dll.

can you explain this?

i open event manager and than?

Find application folder in event manager. Try to run Warzone and wait when button is become Play again. Then check event manager and find error log item with red icon. Above this item must appear another message (not error), check this item. In the description you will find a link with wer file something like this \\?\C:\ProgramData\Microsoft\Windows\WER\ReportArchive\AppCrash_ModernWarfare.ex_c89db1098e1e7983b9bedab7f93f7c9b98a58b_6252e002_8ef8a633-c229-4e6f-be7d-52cce078cdda. Click to link and find single wer file and open with notepad. Find the last LoadedModule row with failed dll name.
