Why aren’t there better options for muting and ignoring “friends”? Sometimes users will want to mute / ignore a friend for some reason without (a) disconnecting from them entirely and/or (b) notifying them that they have been muted / ignored. The current app only supports unfriending and/or blocking them, both actions will “leak” information to the other user and potentially make the situation requiring muting / blocking worse. This isn’t just a feature issue, this can also be an online safety issue.
Discord has better features in this regard. Both the muting and ignoring features allow users to manage who they receive notifications and messages from, without leaking information about those actions to the other user. For example, search How-to-Ignore-Users-on-Discord and see for yourself.
Online communications are more nuanced than we’re friends or not, or you’re blocked from sending messages to me or not. Please make Battle.net a safer environment for your users by upgrading the features in your application, following the example of applications that are better at doing this such as Discord.
