Working for me using steam, add non steam game, use proton experimental or proton-hotfix or something like that .
Or using lutris u can use wine-staging, also works.
For this last method, for nvidia gpu Xorg is better than wayland. But need to disable compositor using shift+alt+f12 on xorg.
Hi twysted,
thanks for the tip with wine-staging, that almost fixed it for me. It was the first time the install went without problems to the login screen. However, the screen was blank, well almost. The only thing I could see was the settings icon. And after at least 20 tries to get the installation to work I checked the settings and under advanced settings came across “Use browser hardware acceleration” And that was it!!! Fixed it for me.
Oh, I’m running cachyos, based on Arch.
Hope this helps.
Thanks again.
Because I spend my money to play this game, I’m going to add my 2 cents to this conversation. Blizzard, for good business reasons, seriously better provide Linux users a native version of this game. I will NOT upgrade from Windows 7 to Windows 10 or 11 just to play this game. There was never anything wrong with XP and it was my favorite, but, Windows 7 sucks already, 10 is worse, and 11 is so privacy invasive, it’s getting cancelled by other countries around the world right now. Countries around the world are going to Linux instead of upgrading to 11. If I can get this game working on Linux, then I’ll continue to pay to play, otherwise, I’m out.
