The game lauches normaly, but trying to connect to a match, custom game or training range just gets you to an infinite loading screen and then sent back to the lobby with the message ‘‘Failed to connect to the match’’. Is anyone else having this problem ?
Same is happening to me rn. I’m on switch and thought it was my switch was bugged but it isn’t as my other games work fine
Thats annoying. Better avoid queuing so we dont get banned…
It’s sad to see how long this has been happening during the day….
U used to be faster blizz… what happened?
If you’re seeing login errors, disconnects, or matchmaking problems, it may be worth checking the current server status before changing anything on your PC. There have been recent reports of Overwatch connectivity and server issues, although the latest status information I found does not indicate a widespread outage right now.
If you’re still unable to connect, I’d try restarting Battle.net, checking for an update, and restarting your router. If other Blizzard services are also having problems, it’s more likely to be a server-side issue.
You can also check the latest reports in the Overwatch Technical Support forum, where current connection and server-related problems are being reported.
For a quick break while waiting for the servers,is wordsofwonders another option.
It does look like there have been periods where Overwatch players were experiencing connection and server issues, so I wouldn’t immediately assume the problem is on your end. Recent player reports have also described being able to enter the game but getting disconnected when trying to start a match.
If you’re seeing “failed to connect” or getting kicked from matches, I’d first check whether other players are reporting the same thing. If the issue is widespread, there’s not much to troubleshoot locally beyond restarting Battle.net and your network equipment and waiting for Blizzard to resolve the server-side problem.
If everything appears normal for other players, then it’s worth checking your connection, DNS, firewall, and Battle.net client. Blizzard’s Overwatch technical-support forum is also useful for spotting current reports from other players.
Hopefully it’s just a temporary server issue. In the meantime, I’d rather not keep reconnecting repeatedly and can always spend a few minutes on something simple like duckduckclicker while waiting for the servers to stabilize.
I haven’t had any of these issues.
If multiple players are getting stuck on the loading screen and then receiving “Failed to connect to the match,” I’d suspect a server-side or matchmaking issue before changing anything on the local system. The fact that the game itself launches normally but matches, custom games, and Training Range fail is a useful clue.
I’d check the official Overwatch service status first, then restart Battle.net and make sure the game is fully updated. If the problem continues across different networks or devices, that would make a local connection problem less likely.
While waiting for the servers to stabilize, something lightweight like brickbreaker can be a quick alternative for a short break.
Just was on before the new update, no issues connecting at all…
What system are you running it on?
It looks like the issue was affecting more than just one player, since others were also reporting failed connections and infinite loading when trying to enter matches. That makes a server-side or matchmaking problem seem more likely than an issue with an individual setup.
I’d avoid competitive matches while the problem is happening, especially if failed connections are being counted as disconnects or leavers. Checking the official Overwatch service updates and waiting for the servers to stabilize would be safer than repeatedly trying to queue.
Hopefully Blizzard can address the underlying server issue and make sure players aren’t unfairly penalized for connection failures outside their control. For a quick browser break while waiting, learntofly2 can be something to check out.
I did not had any issues so far.
I’ve been on most of the day with no issues, but if you try the game forums, you might have more reports…
