You’re lucky – I tried downloading D4 a few days ago (19 Nov) to check it out…
Was downloading at 71~72 MB/s (I have a 500 Mbps service) when, after downloading about 48 GBytes and quite suddenly, download speed dropped to about 150 kB/s… with about 80 GBytes left to download, I computed it was gonna take 150 hours (6 days) to download the remainder… assuming the download speed didn’t drop further.
On 21 Nov, I downloaded Starcraft and Starcraft II… at speeds below 1 MB/s; the download speed went as low as 15 kB/s (120 kbits/s – 0.02% of my capacity)… luckily, both of these games are pretty small and I was able to complete the download.
Why did it slow down ? dunno – I don’t have any tools to check where the throttling is occurring. My ISP does limit upload speed when needed… but not downloads. Is the drop in dowload speed caused by Blizzard ? is it caused by a rogue relay on my route ? don’t know… and I don’t care at this point in time.
Needless to say, I’m not buying anything from Blizzard…
