Hello, I am a working dad in my 30s. I grew up playing Blizzard games, and played WoW through BFA. At some point found the grind didn’t fit in with my personal life. A few years ago, myself and my family members tried out a server called Turtle WoW and made wonderful friendships and had great experiences. I leveled with my dad, who had never played an MMO, to 60.
Moving to turtle wasn’t about the money, it was about the experience, and the absolute blessing that new content isn’t pushed out as fast as I can keep up with it. When my dad passed away in October I took a several months hiatus, playing in the zones that we leveled in together was a heavy emotional experience. In the last month I came back into the game and am able to pick right up where I left off, raiding Naxx weekly with my guild, not grinding my nose off for consumes, not feeling like I missed out on a ton of new stuff that I now have to either sacrifice time with my kids to catch up or just miss out and not be able to participate in the end game.
Turtle WoW is the ideal gaming experience for the casual gamer dad, which is a large population of a 20 year old game that many of us started playing as teens. I would GLADLY pay Blizzard a year sub to retail right now, today, for myself and each of my five family members that play Turtle WoW with me, if you would ease up and let the server exist. Hell you could incorporate what they’ve done and just leave it alone with them managing it and you would recapture a large portion of the working family gamers that are turned off by the constant content dump of your existing games.
Please think about it, would any number of Turtle WoW gamers paying an annual subscription to you change your decision to let Turtle WoW be?
