404 response from the vanilla AH API

I got some python code to try to find AH prices for Ashbringer (realm ID 5228) and try to find the auction house ID for the horde AH there.
But i just get a 404 response.

Sadly, I cannot provide the API endpoint I’m trying, as links seem to not be permitted in posts here.

Is something wrong with the AH API call on classic era servers, or is it just not working right now?

I would very much want this for the hardcore servers, without having to parse auctionator files.
